PT Indra Karya (Persero), formerly known as PN Indra Karya, is a company engaged in the contracting field, established through Government Regulation No. 57 of 1961. In 1972, it became a state-owned company with notarial deed No. 108 of 1972.

In 1978, the Minister of Public Works as the Shareholder Authority reorganized and transformed the company's business field into an engineering consulting services company. At that time, as the first stepping stone in entering this new business field, the electricity sector was chosen, where there was not yet fierce competition in this segment.
